Resources for learning Spanish

This post contains some great resources for learning Spanish.

SpanishDict

SpanishDict is an incredibly versatile dictionary website, with mobile apps also available.

It features a very fast translation engine, many handy sections on grammar, sets of flashcards for building your vocabulary, and – my favourite – a verb conjugation engine.

PONS

When you’re learning a language you need a good dictionary, right? I remembered PONS from my high school days (pre-internet days), and sure enough, this publisher now has  a great website translator and apps. You can even translate entire phrases, and there are other tools worth checking out.

Anki

Anki is a simple but very effective and flexible tool to create your own electronic flashcards. The flashcards can even contain images and sound. It works really well, and I’ve only used the standard recommended settings.

I suggest you read the manual carefully before installing, creating and account and setting up the app, especially the bits about syncing.

YouTube

I recommend these YouTube videos and channels:

  • SpanishPod101 TV is a channel that has subtitles in Spanish and English, so you can get as much or as little help as you need or want.
  • SuperHolly‘s channel presents some short and fun vocabulary lessons and stories.
